HWANG JUNG-MIN GUEST AT THE FLORENCE KOREA FILM FEST

Hwang Jung-min, one of the most famous actors in contemporary South Korean cinema, is the guest of honor at the 23rd edition of the Florence Korea Film Fest, scheduled from 20 to 29 March 2025 at the La Compagnia cinema in Florence.

Winner of the Best Actor award at the prestigious Blue Dragon Film Awards 2024, Hwang Jung-min has starred in over 50 films and TV series, establishing himself as one of the most influential figures in Asian cinema.

As every year, the festival will dedicate a special retrospective to its guest of honour with a selection of eight significant titles that explore the variety of his career. In addition, Hwang Jung-min will be the protagonist of an exclusive masterclass, his first in Italy, offering the public a unique opportunity to get to know his work and his acting approach up close.

We are proud to give space again this year to the great protagonists of South Korean cinema; Hwang Jung-min, is able to interpret with the same intensity roles that range between different genres, from action to drama, from noir to romantic. His films tell universal stories capable of exciting and involving, exploring themes ranging from social dynamics to personal transformations.

Among the works on the program, Veteran and I, The Executioner deal with the conflicts between justice and corruption, while The Spy Gone North is inspired by real events related to the world of espionage. Titles such as The Himalayas and Ode to My Father stage stories of sacrifice and resilience, while the romantic You Are My Sunshine and the supernatural thriller The Wailing show the actor’s versatility. The retrospective also includes 12.12 The Day, a recent historical thriller that reenacts the 1979 coup in South Korea.
