Korean nights of cinema and music with K-Music

Also this year the Florentine summer evenings are enriched with a touch of South Korean culture with the presence of the Florence Korea Film Fest and the “Estate Fiorentina” festival, this year we present “K-Music” a selection of films dedicated to music.
From 18 to 23 July, the MAD Murate Art District will host six screenings of Korean musicals, followed by two special events on 24 and 31 July at the Piazzale degli Uffizi as part of the “Apriti Cinema” festival.
This year, the K-Music festival promises to enchant audiences with a selection of comedies, historical re-enactments and dramatic stories, all enriched with musical notes and intense emotions.

MAD Murate Art District – Piazzale delle Murate (9:00 pm):
- July 18: 200 Pounds Beauty (2006) by Kim Yong-hwa – A musical comedy that explores the relationship between body and soul of a young Korean singer.
- July 19: Sunny (2008) by Lee Joon-ik – The story of a woman who follows her husband in the war and discovers his musical talent.
- July 20: Life is Beautiful (2022) by Choi Kook-hee – A musical road movie that chronicles the emotional journey of a woman in search of her childhood love.
- July 21: Highway Star (2007) by Kim Sang-chan and Kim Hyun-so – A comedy about an aspiring rock star forced to play trot music to make a living.
- July 22: Waikiki Brothers (2001) by Yim Soon-rye – A cult movie set in the eighties that follows the story of a musical band.
- July 23: Radio Star (2006) by Lee Joon-Ik – The story of a former rock star who finds success thanks to radio.
“Apriti Cinema” – Piazzale degli Uffizi (9:45 pm):
- July 24: Swing Kids (2018) by Kang Hyeong-Cheol – A musical war movie set during the Korean War, featuring a tap show organized by an American serviceman.
- July 31: Go Go 70s (2008) by Choi Ho – The story of the rock band The Devils in South Korea in the 70s, during the military dictatorship of Park Chung-hee.
All screenings are free with free admission by reservation
