Biography

And J-yong is one of the most important exponents of Korean cinema. He has received many awards at short film festivals, including The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival with "Homo Videocus" (1990). His first feature film, "An Affair", is a melodrama that introduces an aesthetic and emotional minimalism unknown until then. He ranged thematically from one extreme to the other. "The Actresses" (2009) stars six of Korea's most celebrated actresses, erasing the boundary between fiction and nonfiction. And J-yong returns behind the camera with "Behind the Camera" followed by "My Brilliant Life" in 2014. Experimenting with a new style, he conducts Youn Yuh-jung for the third time in "The Bacchus Lady".
