Born in 1980, he completed his studies in cinema at Chung-Ang University in Seoul. He briefly practiced a stuntman career after attending Seoul Action School. He dedicated the documentary "Action Boys" (2008) to this particular profession. His first fiction film, "Confession of Murder" (2012), earned him the award for best new director at the 50th Daejong Film Awards, while his next "The Villainess" (2017) was presented at the Cannes Film Festival in the Midnight Screenings section. He is currently completing the English-language blockbuster "Afterburn" starring Gerard Butler.
