Biography
KIM Rok-gyeong graduated with a degree in architecture before making his acting debut starting with a small role in Architecture in 2004. Later it could be seen in a large number of films, the most notable among which (2010), (2010) and (2011). In 2012, he won the Best Actor Award at the Busan Independent Film Festival for the two short films selected that year in which he starred, and . After collaborating with many directors over the years, many of whom became close friends, KIM naturally began to share their ambitions to tell stories and so began writing his own stories, which he later imagined turning into films. With no prior experience or formal education in filmmaking, he completed his first film as a filmmaker in 2016, learning every aspect of discipline at work and with the help of friends. He recently proved to be a good storyteller in his own right when his feature film directorial debut (2020) scooped awards at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, winning three of the five awards he was competing for, Techcross Environmental Services Best Korean Fantastic Film Award, the Korean Fantastic Audience Award, and the Distribution Award, while lead actor Ha Jun took home a fantastic actor trophy. Although Kim is now focusing on his career as a director, this doesn't mean he plans to stop appearing on camera, as he was recently seen as the headliner in OH Jung-seok's independent film (2019).
