Born in 1980, Lee Jong-pil graduated in photography and then became interested in cinema. He is then admitted to the film school of the Korean National University of the Arts. After his debut with "Born to Sing", which was followed by the Pansori drama "The Sound Of A Flower", he achieved great success with the film "Samjin Company English Class" (2020) also presented the same year at the Florence Korea Film Fest. "Escape" is his fourth feature film.
