È nato in Corea. Dopo essersi diplomato al dipartimento di cinema del Seoul Institute of the Arts, ha studiato all'estero e si è laureato al Pratt Institute of the Arts. Si è anche laureato alla Chung-Ang University, Graduate School of Advanced Image Science, Multimedia and Film. “Enlightenment Film” è il suo lungometraggio d'esordio.
