Biography

Many of Jeon so-il's films – born in 1959 – have reached major international festivals: since his debut, in 1997, "Wind Echoing in My Being", which took part in the Cannes Film Festival. After all, there are many "Western" influences in his cinema: for four years, he studied in Paris at the Ecole supérieure de réalisation audiovisuelle. He currently teaches film at Busan University, and has founded his own production company, with which he finances his films. In 2008 he won the Deauville festival, dedicated to Asian cinema, the Grand Prix at the Freiburg festival, and three awards at the Busan festival.
