Kwon Chil-in is known for his melodramas all focused on the role of the metropolitan and working woman, films such as Singles of 2003, which introduce the figure of a self-confident and independent woman to the Korean film scene of the beginning of the millennium. Kwon is currently the head of the Director's Guild of Korea movement, which is committed to empowering and protecting the rights and interests of Korean filmmakers.
