Critique

What is love? This is the question that the director asks indirectly throughout the film, not only romantic love but also filial love. Sae-bom sees in his mother a lack of affection and a total apathy towards life, this coldness intrigues the teenager who when he reads a letter addressed to his mother decides to help her and help their relationship in this way. The plot may seem much simpler than it actually is, this is a movie full of passive aggressive characters with great problems expressing their feelings. Each character has a shadow in his life that does not allow him to live his feelings. The love between two women from different countries is particularly interesting, the narrative of a sapphic love that is often forgotten even in more 'open-minded' international narratives is singular. However, this is not a political film that wants to tell only homosexual love but even takes a further step forward by telling all kinds of feelings. The parallelism between the mother's first love and the daughter's first love and the social differences that follow are the real point of reflection of the film. Love itself, in all its forms, has no boundaries of places or genders but often succumbs to society.
On this journey Sae-bom does not solve his problems with his mother but comes to understand her attitude.
