Born in Seoul in 1931, Park Sang-ho dropped out of the Faculty of Business Administration at Yonsei University and worked for a period in the theater. He began his film career in 1955 as an assistant director on Shin Sang-ok's "Dream" and just a year later he made his directorial debut with "The Sea". Very active during the golden age of Korean cinema, between the late fifties and sixties, Park directed and produced twenty-six documentaries and twenty-four fiction films, specializing in family dramas. Among these, "Family Meeting" (1962), "A Happy Businesswoman" (1963) and "The DMZ" (1965), are considered her most important works.
