Biography

Born in 1972, Shim Sung-bo studied directing at the Korea National University of Arts; after some experience as a director of photography, he made himself known in 2003 for having signed the screenplay of the famous thriller "Memories of Murder" together with director Bong Joon-ho. In 2011 he took part in the writing, direction and production of the collective film "What the...?", eight short films on the effects of the economic crisis in Korea. Also with Bong Joon-ho he wrote the screenplay for "Haemoo", his first great success as a director.
