Born in 1974, she graduated in directing at the Korean Academy of Film Arts, Shin tried her hand at short films and then made her feature film debut in 2011: "Jesus Hospital" (co-directed with Lee Sang-cheol) earned, among others, the Grand Prize at the Seoul Independent Film Festival of the same year.
