Song Hae-sung made his first feature film in 1999 with "Calla". His second feature, "Failan" (2001), starring Choi Min-sik, garnered widespread critical acclaim and won him the Grand Bell Award for Best Korean Director in 2002. The following "Rikidozan: a hero extraordinary" (2004), on the other hand, divides critics and disappoints at the box office. His most recent film, Maundy Thursday (2006) brought him back to success and was seen by more than three million viewers.
