Born in Busan, in early 2000 he was the victim of an accident for which he himself experienced paralysis. His debut film "Man of Men" reflects, in part, this painful experience of his.
Critique
A film with a delicate balance "Man of Men". If on the one hand there is the inevitable conclusion of the life of a still young and brilliant man (the rich lawyer Jang-so played by the impeccable Sol Kyung-gu), on the other hand there is the prospect of a different and perhaps better future for the petty criminal Young-ki (Cho Jin-woong). If the narrative device had already been addressed both in Europe with "Almost Friends" (2011) and in the United States with "The Upside" (2017), the cut of the South Korean film is completely different. It is not only the risk of an overly melodramatic general tone that is averted by the interpretation offered by Cho Jin-woong; The character of the light-hearted gangster with a passion for racing cars and flashy clothes, coming into contact with something decidedly bigger than him such as the extinguishing of a life, in fact gives the film, in addition to moments of absolute and carefree comedy, also interesting noir nuances that, at some moments, almost seem to pay homage to previous interpretations of the actor in films of that particular genre.
