Seoul, 1980. Kim Man-seob si divide tra il suo lavoro di tassista e l’educazione della figlia a cui, da quando è rimasto vedovo, deve provvedere da solo. Un giorno, credendo di poter intascare una ricca mancia, fa salire sul suo taxi un repoter tedesco per accompagnarlo a Gwang-ju per filmare la protesta studentesca contro la dittatura perpetrata dal generale Chun Doo-hwan. Arrivati quasi a destinazione i due uomini trovano diversi posti di blocco che impediscono l’accesso alla zona. Quella che doveva essere una semplice corsa in taxi diventerà per Kim Man-seob un’esperienza dopo la quale non sarà più lo stesso.

 

Seoul, 1980. Kim Man-seob is divided between his work as a taxi driver and the education of his daughter, whom he has to take care of by himself since he became a widower. One day, believing he could get a good tip, he takes a German reporter into his taxi to drive him to Gwang-ju to film the student protest against the dictatorship perpetrated by General Chun Doo-hwan. Arrived almost to destination, the two men find several checkpoints that prevent access to the area. What was supposed to be a simple taxi ride will become for Kim Man-seob an experience after which he will no longer be the same.
