Florence Korea Film Fest pays tribute to Park Hae-Il

Park Hae-Il is the special guest of this edition of the Florence Korea Film Fest, for the first time in Italy a tribute will be dedicated to one of the most versatile and chameleon-like actors who has been one of the most beloved names in Korean cinema for more than two decades.

The Florence Korea Film Fest will pay tribute to him this year with a selection of 7 films starting from his beginnings with “Waikiki Brothers” (2001) and “Jealousy Is My Middle Name” (2003) that saw him come to the attention of the film industry. The tribute will continue with the film “My Mother, The Mermaid” (2004) a romantic time travel drama opposite diva Jeon Do-yeon; the horror mystery “Paradise Murdered” (2007); we will reintroduce on the big screen Eungyo (2012), known by the title A Muse, a romantic/erotic film adaptation of the novel Eun-gyo by writer Park Bum-shin in which Park Hae-il the role of the elderly poet.

The festival’s rich homage proceeds with Song Hae-sung’s choral black comedy “Boomerang Family“(2013) up to “Decision to Leave,” his most recent interpretation in the Hitchcockian-tinged noir directed by Park Chan-wook, which won best director at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, where Park Hae-il plays the detective who falls in love with the prime suspect.

Park Hae-il will also be among the leads in the opening film “Hansan: Rising Dragon” by director Kim Han-min, who is also among the guests at the 21st Florence Korea Film Fest. The film has its Italian premiere in Florence and chronicles the historic battle of Hansan Island. Park Hae-il plays Admiral Joseon Yi Sun-sin.
